Construction Update (February 27)
The old Agape and Safe Harbor rooms were successfully converted into Preschool/Kindergarten rooms. Two classrooms on A wing were vacated and moved to the old Agape and Safe Harbor rooms. The vacant rooms on A wing were converted to office space for the Pastor, Assoc. Pastor, Secretary, and the Agape food pantry. The new offices were occupied on February 27.
The decision was made to perform as much of the work as possible with church members in order to save as much as 50% on costs and reduce the time the Sanctuary cannot be used. The next step will be to remove the interior walls between the old office spaces. This will allow us to rebuild the A/V booth, remove the drop ceiling (flat ceiling), run new cables, and install insulation, new sheetrock ceiling, lights and fans in the flat ceiling. We will then be able to remove the main hallway partitions, move the Sanctuary entrance doors, and remove the old A/V booth.
Then we will temporarily remove the pews for refinishing and reupholstering, replace the carpet and reinstall existing and additional pews. In order to minimize disruption to worship services replacement of the ceiling and fans in the cathedral ceiling will be the final steps in the Sanctuary Expansion.
No specific dates are indicated because the schedule is dependent on the amount of help we receive. We have truly been blessed by God by the amount of help we have received and the amount of work accomplished in a very short period of time. We sincerely appreciate all the help we have received. If you are able to help in any way contact the church office.
Thank you,
Robert Simonds, Trustee
